Companionship vs Home Care: Which Does Your Parent Need?
Companionship and home care are two words that get muddled, and the difference matters. Home care (also called domiciliary care) is regulated personal care delivered by a CQC registered agency: help with washing, dressing, toileting, medication and mobility, with a formal care plan. Companionship is the friendly help that comes before or alongside it: a familiar face, a chat, a walk, an outing, a lift to an appointment, light help around the home.
