Funding Companionship Visits
Most families in Hertford, Ware and the SG11 to SG14 area pay for AirCarers companion visits privately, but some are able to put a Hertfordshire County Council direct payment towards them. To ask, call Hertfordshire County Council adult social care on 0300 123 4042 and request a free Care Act assessment. Mention companionship by name, describe the loneliness, frailty or reduced social contact you are worried about, and ask whether a direct payment could go towards regular companion visits (councils sometimes call this support for social wellbeing). Eligibility is decided by the council and is not guaranteed.
Honest expectations: assessments typically take 4 to 8 weeks, awards vary and a typical companionship direct payment covers 2 to 6 hours a week, and people with savings over £23,250 are usually asked to self fund but still have the right to an assessment. Many families pay privately while they wait; we send a simple weekly invoice you can forward to the council's direct payments team. AirCarers Companion is a companionship platform, not a CQC registered agency, and does not provide personal or clinical care.
