Companionship Care in Hertford
If Mum or Dad lives in Hertford and is spending more time alone than they let on, a companion can visit every week for conversation, a walk or a trip into town. Every companion is enhanced DBS checked, you choose who visits, and visits start from £25 an hour with no contract. Help before care, not personal care.
What a visit looks like in Hertford
It might be a film and a coffee at BEAM on The Wash, the old Hertford Theatre, which has a riverside café. It might be a gentle stroll on Hartham Common, where there are benches by the river, or the Saturday market in Salisbury Square.
Hertford Museum on Bull Plain is free and has a lift, which makes it an easy outing on a cold day. And plenty of visits never leave the house: tea, the paper, old photos and an hour of proper conversation.

Who visits
Our companions are based in and around Hertford and Ware. Before you commit to anything, Lucie will tell you who can visit and on which days.
Every companion has an enhanced DBS check, photo ID verification and references, and a real person at AirCarers reads each application and can say no. Companions are trained in safeguarding and lone working, and they check in and out of every visit by GPS, so you can see when they arrived and how long they stayed. See how we vet companions.
What it costs
Visits start from £25 an hour. Each companion sets their own rate, at the moment between £25 and £35 an hour, and you see it on their profile before you book. There is no contract. You pay for the visits you have.
Coming home from hospital
If Dad is coming home after a stay in hospital, a companion can pick up a few essentials, be there when he gets in and stay while he settles. If he has an outpatient appointment at Hertford County Hospital, a companion can go along, wait with him and get him home.
How we help after a hospital stay
What companions do not do
Companions do not give personal care, medication, nursing or any clinical help, and they do not help with bathing, dressing, toileting or moving and handling. AirCarers Companion is not a care agency and is not CQC registered. If your parent needs that kind of support, Lucie will point you towards a regulated provider.
Questions families in Hertford ask
Is there anything else for older people in Hertford?
Yes, and a companion can help someone get to it. Hertford and District u3a meets every month, Age UK Hertfordshire is based in Hertford, and HertsHelp on 0300 123 4044 can point you to local groups and support.
Are you a care agency?
No. AirCarers Companion is help before care. Companions are self-employed, you choose who visits from their profile, and each companion sets their own rate. We are not CQC registered and companions do not give personal care.
How do we get started?
Call 07455 750006 or send Lucie a question. Lucie reads every message herself and usually replies the same working day. She'll have a short chat about what would help, then you choose a companion and arrange a first visit.
Can we change companion?
Yes, at any time. If it doesn't feel right, tell Lucie and she'll help you find someone else.
Which other areas do you cover?
Ware, Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Bishop's Stortford and Sawbridgeworth, across SG11 to SG14, EN10 to EN11, CM21 and CM23.
