Companionship Care in Knighton and surrounding villages

If Mum or Dad lives in Knighton or one of the villages around it and the days have gone quiet, a companion can visit for company, a walk or a trip into town. Every companion is enhanced DBS checked, you choose who visits, and visits start from £25 an hour with no contract. Help before care, not personal care.

What a visit looks like around Knighton
It might be a slow stroll into Knighton town centre, or a visit to the Offa's Dyke Centre, which is in the town. In Presteigne, it might be an hour at The Judge's Lodging on Broad Street, the town's museum, and there is usually a local food market on the first Saturday of the month at the Memorial Hall on Station Road. A companion can go along and carry the shopping home.
Plenty of visits never leave the house: tea, the paper, old photographs and an hour of proper conversation. Roads here are quiet but not always easy, so a lift to an appointment can make a real difference. The point is the same person, the same day, something to look forward to.
Who visits
We have one companion here so far, Natalie, who lives nearby. She covers three routes from Knighton, each about 15 to 20 minutes' drive: up the valley to Felindre (Knucklas, Heyope, Lloyney, Llanfair Waterdine, Dutlas, Beguildy and Felindre, and on to Llanbister Road); along the road to Leintwardine (Stowe, Bucknell, Brampton Bryan, Lingen, Hopton Heath and Leintwardine); and south to Presteigne, Kington and Shobdon, including the villages in between. Her rate is £26 an hour and you can see it on her profile before you book. We would rather be straight with you: Lucie will tell you which days Natalie can visit and whether your address is within easy reach before you commit to anything.
Every companion has an enhanced DBS check, photo ID verification and references, and a real person at AirCarers reads each application and can say no. Companions are trained in safeguarding and lone working, and they check in and out of every visit by GPS, so you can see when they arrived and how long they stayed. See how we vet companions.
What it costs
Visits start from £25 an hour. Each companion sets their own rate, and you see it on their profile before you book. There is no contract. You pay for the visits you have.
Coming home from hospital
If Mum or Dad is coming home after a stay in hospital, a companion can pick up a few essentials, be there when they get in and stay while they settle. If there is an appointment in Hereford, Shrewsbury or further afield, a companion can go along, wait with them and see them home again.
What companions do not do
Companions do not give personal care, medication, nursing or any clinical help, and they do not help with bathing, dressing, toileting or moving and handling. AirCarers Companion is not a care agency. If your parent needs that kind of support, Lucie will point you towards a regulated provider.
Questions families in Knighton ask
Are you a care agency?
No. AirCarers Companion is help before care. Companions are self-employed, you choose who visits from their profile, and each companion sets their own rate. Companions do not give personal care.
Which villages do you cover?
Natalie covers Knighton and the villages around it: the valley up to Felindre, the road to Leintwardine, and south to Presteigne, Kington and Shobdon. Ludlow and Bishop's Castle are possible by agreement, but they are further and winter roads can slow the journey. Ring Lucie on 07455 750006 and she will check your address.
I live far away. Can I arrange visits for a parent in Knighton or the surrounding villages?
Yes. You can create an account, choose the companion, book the visits and receive updates yourself, including from outside the UK.
How do we get started?
Call 07455 750006 or send Lucie a question. Lucie reads every message herself and usually replies the same working day. She will have a short chat about what would help, then you choose a companion and arrange a first visit.
Can we change companion?
Yes, at any time. If it does not feel right, tell Lucie and she will help you find someone else.
